Writing Birrarung

More Than Human is thrilled to be teaming up with writer Frankey Chung-Kok-Lun (Nature Human) and environmental law researcher Libby Newton for a creative writing workshop on the banks of Birrarung. This event is part of the three-week Birrarung Riverfest, hosted by the Yarra Riverkeeper Association.

Participants are invited to record all or part of their work from this workshop, for inclusion in a Birrarung Audio Gallery, which will be published online by More Than Human. If you attended the workshop on Sunday 4 October 2026, please follow the instructions below to submit your recording!

Submitting a recording

Please submit audio recordings only (no video).

Option 1: Record on your phone/device and upload

Simply record your work onto your phone, laptop, tablet or other personal device and then upload to this Google Drive folder.

Option 2: Record as a voicemail

Visit morethanhumanpod.net (this website!) and click the blue microphone button in the bottom-right corner. When you're ready, click 'Start recording' to record a voicemail from your device. When you're done, click 'Stop recording', fill in the form and click 'Send'.

Recording tips

We want your recording to be an authentic reflection of you and your creative work. You do not need to produce a studio-level recording. Background noise, especially if you choose to record at a specific location, is fine! However, so we can make sure your voice is captured clearly:

  1. Speak slowly and clearly.
  2. If you can, speak directly into the microphone of your device.
  3. Try and find a sheltered location away from the wind, or block the prevailing wind with your body (wind is a microphone's worst enemy!).

Recording multiple takes is encouraged. If multiple takes are included in the one recording, just start each with "Take #" and make sure you tell us which take you would like used.
